The Annual Divine Service of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire East was held within Rutherglen West and Wardlawhill Parish Church on Sunday, 14 April.
A large attendance of Brethren – many accompanied by relatives and friends – were welcomed by the Rev. Bro. Malcolm Cuthbertson who conducted the service. A total of fifty-six people attended.
Among those present were Past Depute Grand Master, Bro. Archibald M. McGown and representatives of seven Sister Provincial Grand Lodges, Ayrshire, Kilwinning, Glasgow, Stirlingshire, Lanarkshire Middle Ward, Dunbartonshire and Lanarkshire Upper Ward.
Readings were given by RWPGM of Renfrewshire East, Bro. Neil Fraser, and the RWPGM of Stirlingshire, Bro. Alistair T. Marshall.
In his sermon, the Rev. Bro. Malcolm Cuthbertson spoke of the symbolism of the donkey – hardworking and humble – and suggested this provided a moral code for Freemasonry.
Following the service those attending were invited to stay for tea and coffee and a buffet.
