Lodge Newton Mearns Hosts Joint Divine Service

The Annual Joint Divine Service of five Lodges in the Province was held on Sunday, October 9, in Cathcart Congregational Church.

Host Lodge on this occasion was Lodge \Newton Mearns No. 1706. The other Lodges involved were Lodge Pollokshaws Royal Arch No.153, Lodge Thorntree No.512, Lodge Albert Edward No. 592 and Lodge Sir George Cathcart No.617.

Over recent years, this group of Lodges has operated a highly successful system of inter-lodge visitations between themselves and has traditionally held an annual Joint Divine Service hosted by each Lodge in rotation.

A Deputation from PGLRE headed by SPGM, Bro. William Fleming also attended the service along with more than 40 other Brethren, visitors and guests.

The service – conducted by PG Chaplain, Bro. Pastor William Shirlaw – was followed by tea, coffee, sandwiches and cakes organised by the ladies.

The SPGM later thanked Lodge Newton Mearns for hosting the service and Bro. Pastor William Shirlaw for his welcome and his humour and enthusiasm for the Craft.
