Brethren pack parcels in the Christmas spirit

Seasonal background music and Santa hats were the order of the day when the PGLRE Christmas parcel packers went to work.

The setting was the premises of Lodge Inchinnan No.1405 which became the centre of intense activity on the morning of Sunday, 9th December.

Almost colourful 400 food parcels filled with groceries and seasonal treats by a willing team of volunteers await delivery.

It took just over 20 minutes for the well-drilled band of brothers to pack almost 400 bags with a selection of groceries and seasonal treats – supplied at a generous discount by Morrisons – for delivery by members of local lodges.

The Christmas parcel tradition has been up and running in the Province of Renfrewshire East for many years ago and has proved a popular way of keeping in touch with the widows and families of Freemasons who may be finding life a little difficult. Groceries – over and above that required for the parcels – were later delivered to local food banks.

The PGM, Bro. Neil Fraser, thanked the RWM and brethren of Lodge Inchinnan for the use of their premises and all those who had helped to pack and deliver the parcels.

He said: “It’s great to see the real Christmas spirit in action and the teamwork at goes into organising, packing and delivering the parcels. We know that they are greatly appreciated by those who enjoy a visit and a little bit of extra help at this time of year.”
